All I Want

All I Want

I did not record my first album until I was in my early thirties and already had three children! I picked a place called Tacher Studios from the phone book because the location was half way from where I lived and where my good friend and bass player, Dave Lopresti lived, so we could meet and jam. I met Rick Klimowicz, who worked there as a music teacher and recording engineer. I don’t know why it hadn’t occurred to me before to record an album as I had been writing songs for over ten years by then. So I decided to make an album there with Rick as co-producer and engineer. The plan was to fully record this album in two distinct pieces. Session one consisted of eight of my favorite, most jamming songs, most from my early years of songwriting. I wanted to complete these songs so I could listen to them and enjoy them, then start from scratch again with seven more songs: other older songs, and some newer songs. This album captured my heavy jamming style, and featured stellar lead guitar work by Muhammad Pemberton, and great saxophone by Dave Dionisi. There were five different lead vocalists on the songs. Many of these songs have become staples in every kjband live performance over the years. Work started in 1995, and all recordings were completed in 1998.
